During the trip I took with me an 18 year old Sony HDR-SR5 Handycam, which was used to shoot almost all video. A few clips were shot on my iPhone in Apple MOV/QTFF format. I couldn’t find a suitable dash mount so I bought three different ones, chopped them up and constructed a jerry rigged mount that would do the job – most of the time! Sadly, the camera wasn’t auto-focusing properly all of the time, but I still got some really nice clips. Everything was shot in Sony’s MTS/AVCHD format and then sequences put together using Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition and Adobe Media Encoder.
I also took an equally old Nikon D300 DSLR with a Nikor VR 18-200mm lens and a Nikor VR 70-300mm lens. Most of the time I had the 18-2000mm lens on the D300 so used that, but occasionally staying further away from danger by using the 70-300mm was the better option.
All images were shot in RAW format and then processed/converted to JPG in Adobe Lightroom.
Each of the links below points to a Flickr album containing all video and still shot on that day, with the videos at the front of the album. Not all days have both video and stills.
